Vinyes Ocults was started in 2007 as what we refer to as a “Garagiste” winery. This is a term derived from Jean Luc Thunevin back in 1991 when he produced a wine Chateau Valandraud. The wine was quite literally produced in a garage on the right bank of St Emilion. Finding producers that produce wine in this fashion make wine as a labor of love, they make wine as its their passion. As a result this really come through in the wines, not to mention much lower overhead, so they are able to make wines that simply over-deliver at the price. The first vintage of this wine I am about to offer you was a 400 liter production and sold out in less than 2 months, with no heavy advertising, just word of mouth.
